Taste Analysis
Appearance: Deep ruby-purple color in the glass.
Nose: Dark fruit, pepper, coffee, candy, toasted oak notes. Floral smell in the background.
Palate: Ripe black fruits and spice characters. Notes of berries, plum and cloves. Earthy and leather-like undertones.
Structure: Medium to full-bodied Shiraz (Syrah). Smoky. Dry. Medium tannins. Easy to drink.
Finish: Generous finish. Round. Slightly on the acidic side. Mouth-coating and lingering. Generous but well-balanced.
Overall Impression: Smooth, approachable, everyday red with a fruit-forward profile. It has dark fruit core, such as plums and blackberries, and peppery tones in the background. Not highly complex, suitable for casual drinking. Not suitable for aging. Good value for the price point.
Pairing
This wine would pair well with grilled meats (especially lamb) or pasta with tomato-based sauces. It would also suit mildly-spiced food really well. I decided to pair it with a Coppa sandwich, which in hindsight was a light pairing for this wine. It definitely deserves something heavier.
